Prostate: New Early Detection Methods Introduced
The Urological Clinic in Heidelberg has introduced a new prostate diagnostic system. This method serves to diagnose prostate cancer and combines the Hochfeld-MRT with a new ultrasound technique. Because urologists with the new method now collect the tissue from the intestine and not the rectum, the risk of haemorrhaging and fever has been reduced. With this new biopsy method can doctors not only diagnose the existence of cancerous tissue, but also where exactly the tumour is located and how large and aggressive it may be, says Dr. Hadaschik, Chief of Medicine Heidelberg.
